The first waterproofing coat is being applied to the exterior walls of the Peoples Bank Building, marking an important step in protecting the historic structure ahead of the next restoration phase. The flexible, water-resistant coating helps seal out rain while still allowing the masonry walls to breathe—an essential balance for historic buildings that naturally hold and release moisture. By bridging small cracks and creating a uniform surface after repairs, the coating helps protect original materials and extend the life of the building. Once this layer is complete, stucco will follow, restoring the building’s original texture and appearance while building on this added layer of protection.
