Original Brick Walls Are Revealed at the Brown Brothers Building

Demolition crew removes plaster and lath from an interior wall.

Demolition crews working on the east side of the Brown Brothers Building, second floor, uncovered original brick walls behind plaster and lath. Until this discovery, it was uncertain whether any original masonry remained, as many of the walls had been replaced with concrete block. The discovery reveals the building’s historic character and offers preservationists insight into the authentic building materials.
