Five Structures Undergoing Demolition as Anchor Project Moves into Active Construction Phase
Demolition is now underway at the future site of the $50 million EVO Family Entertainment Center—marking the first active construction phase of the project in downtown Clearwater.
Located on the 700 block of Cleveland Street along the Pinellas Trail, the full development site is now actively being cleared, with five existing structures undergoing demolition as the project moves into its next phase.
Heavy equipment is on site, and structural demolition is actively underway. This is not preparatory work. It is the direct transformation of the site that will become the district’s primary entertainment destination.
Demolition follows the completion of extensive preconstruction work, including asbestos abatement, utility disconnections and the removal of nearly 1,000 tons of pavement and surface material.
The project has also entered active coordination with the City of Clearwater, with design and development teams working across multiple departments to advance plans as the next phase moves forward.
The Family Entertainment Center will be built from the ground up as an 83,000-square-foot destination, anchored by the largest cinema screen on Earth and the only multiplex globally to feature Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos across every auditorium.
The project is supported by a world-class team spanning entertainment, architecture and engineering—bringing together leading firms in cinema design, acoustics and large-scale destination development.
“Clearwater deserves a destination that brings people together in a meaningful way, and that’s exactly what we’re building. EVO will serve as a true anchor for downtown, bringing new energy, scale and momentum to the district while creating a place where guests can spend an entire day or night enjoying movies, dining, bowling and interactive entertainment—all under one roof,” said Mitch Roberts, Founder & CEO of Elevate Entertainment Group.
“We’re creating a truly one-of-a-kind destination, and nothing is more rewarding than to be part of an elite team of forward-thinking experts in the entertainment industry to turn complexity into opportunity,” said Jack Muffoletto, Senior Principal at TK Architects.
With demolition now underway, the project moves into visible execution—marking the next phase in a transformation already advancing across Cleveland Street.
Cleveland Street Alliance is leading a coordinated effort to revitalize downtown Clearwater through a series of historic restoration and redevelopment projects along Cleveland Street. Through sustained investment and a building-by-building approach, the initiative is restoring landmark properties, reactivating the corridor and reestablishing the district as a center of activity and commerce.
