New Fly-Through Video Reveals One of the World’s Most Advanced Multipurpose Event Venues—Designed for International Events, Cultural Performances, Community Gatherings and More
Fireworks illuminated the Clearwater skyline Saturday evening as more than 7,000 Scientologists and guests gathered to break ground for L. Ron Hubbard Hall—a project that begins not with the unveiling of a completed landmark, but with the public reveal of an extraordinary vision for downtown Clearwater.
While the groundbreaking marked the official beginning of the project, a newly released architectural fly-through now offers the public its first complete look inside L. Ron Hubbard Hall—revealing one of the world’s most advanced multipurpose event venues, designed to transform for dramatically different uses while setting a new standard for architecture, flexibility and technical capability.
Named in honor of Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard, the Hall will serve as the home of the Church’s International Events—simultaneously broadcast to Scientologists around the world. Designed specifically for those worldwide broadcasts, every aspect of the venue has been engineered to support events of exceptional scale, precision and production quality.
Mr. David Miscavige, ecclesiastical leader of the Scientology religion, spoke to the significance of the moment:
“There are moments in history when a single location transcends the ordinary—when it ceases to be merely a point upon a map and instead becomes a point of reference for all that follows.
“Tonight is such a moment.”
Spanning more than 286,000 square feet across an entire city block, L. Ron Hubbard Hall combines timeless neoclassical architecture with advanced engineering to create one of the world’s most sophisticated multipurpose venues. Visitors arrive through a welcoming plaza before entering a soaring four-story Grand Lobby that opens into an auditorium unlike any other on Earth.
Designed to adapt seamlessly to the needs of each event, the Hall transforms from a 3,500-seat auditorium into an elegant banquet venue accommodating approximately 1,500 guests. Immersive acoustics, advanced theatrical lighting, state-of-the-art broadcast systems and transformable staging enable the Hall to become whatever the occasion requires.
“Its purpose is capability,” Mr. Miscavige said. “It was designed to become whatever the moment requires.”
One day it may host an International Event simultaneously broadcast around the globe. The next, it may become the setting for a convention, banquet, educational seminar, briefing or celebration.
But the Hall has been designed for more than the Church’s own International Events.
For decades, the Fort Harrison Religious Retreat has quietly welcomed the Clearwater community through hundreds of events each year, including charitable fundraisers, educational programs, interfaith gatherings, civic meetings and cultural celebrations. L. Ron Hubbard Hall expands that longstanding tradition by providing a purpose-built venue for nonprofit events, cultural performances, school graduations, student recitals, educational conferences, community banquets and civic celebrations.
The groundbreaking reflected the international significance of the project. Scientologists from 72 nations gathered in Clearwater for the ceremony, while contributors from 96 nations helped make the Hall possible. More than 100 commemorative golden shovels lined the stage as Mr. Miscavige led the ceremonial turning of the first earth, with fireworks marking the beginning of a vision decades in the making.
While the photographs capture the excitement of an unforgettable evening, the newly released fly-through provides the first complete reveal of the Hall itself—from its welcoming plaza and soaring Grand Lobby to the remarkable engineering, architectural beauty and transformative versatility that define every aspect of the project.
Watch the complete fly-through to experience the full vision of L. Ron Hubbard Hall and discover how this remarkable new landmark has been designed to become one of the world’s most advanced multipurpose event venues.
As Cleveland Street continues its renaissance through historic restorations, destination restaurants, major entertainment investments and new construction, L. Ron Hubbard Hall represents another defining chapter in that story. More than a new building, it is a place designed to bring people together—for International Events viewed around the world, and for educational programs, cultural performances, nonprofit gatherings and community celebrations here at home.
Ground has been broken.
The vision has been revealed.
And another defining chapter in downtown Clearwater’s future has begun.
