A Window Into History Inside the Restored Woolworth Building

Assorted vintage Woolworth items in case.
Original Woolworth merchandise from the mid-century era fills the lobby display.

The lobby display case at the Woolworth building now brings a piece of retail history back into view. Known for its classic five-and-dime model, Woolworth stores offered everyday household goods—from kitchenware and sewing items to toys, candy and seasonal décor—often priced at just five or ten cents.

The display case features original Woolworth-era merchandise, adding another layer of history to the photographs lining the lobby walls. Many of the items are more than 60 years old, with some dating back to 1929. Together, they offer a glimpse into the small, affordable goods that once lined Woolworth shelves and defined its role as a neighborhood household store. As restoration continues, the display reflects a commitment to honoring the building’s retail history—not as a relic of the past, but as a meaningful part of its future.
