Storefront Demolition Advances at 629–633 Cleveland Street

A sledgehammer is used to demolish knee walls.
Masonry openings are being expanded to prepare for new storefront systems.

At 629–633 Cleveland Street, crews are actively dismantling the existing storefront system, removing masonry and façade elements to expose the building’s structural frame. Using hand tools and controlled demolition methods, sections of the lower wall are being removed to widen openings and prepare for a new storefront installation.

Inside, additional material removal continues along the perimeter walls, clearing debris and revealing the underlying structure. This phase aligns with the broader scope of work, which includes the removal of existing windows and interior elements to accommodate upgraded storefront systems and building infrastructure. As demolition progresses, the original framework becomes more visible, establishing the foundation for the next stage of restoration.
