Don’t miss what’s happening on Cleveland Street

Storefront Opens as Knee Walls Are Demolished at 629–633 Cleveland Street

• Worker demolishes knee wall with a sledgehammer.
Sledgehammer demolition breaks apart interior knee wall.

Demolition continues inside 629–633 Cleveland Street as crews remove existing knee walls (short, partial-height walls that rise a few feet from the floor, used to divide space without fully enclosing it). This clears a visual barrier that once separated the interior from the storefront. Using sledgehammers, sections of the wall are broken apart and removed, opening the space from floor level upward.

As these lower walls come down, the interior becomes more welcoming, improving visibility from street level. This step supports a more accessible layout and strengthens the connection between the storefront and the sidewalk along Cleveland Street.
