Before demolishing the air-conditioning system at 635 Cleveland Street, crews carefully removed all refrigerant from the units. This step was required to prevent environmental harm, as refrigerant gases can contribute to air pollution and climate risk if released into the atmosphere.

Once the refrigerant was safely contained, crews proceeded to dismantle the AC system by removing vents and ducts throughout the building. This cleared the interior for the next stage of renovations while ensuring the components were removed in a controlled and orderly manner.
