Bond Beams Installed at the South Parapet of the F.W. Woolworth Co. Building

Rebar structure is readied for a concrete pour at the south wall of the Woolworth building.
A rebar cage is installed where the new concrete beam will be poured.

Structural stabilization is underway at the F.W. Woolworth Co. building. Following a recent inspection, the south parapet was found to be severely deteriorated with little to no mortar holding the brickwork intact. Crews dismantled the parapet down to the top of the window openings, allowing for a full reconstruction in line with modern standards.

Concrete specialists installed a rebar cage and formwork to create a reinforced bond beam that will unify the south wall with the adjacent structure. It will also serve to secure the upper masonry and to prepare the parapet for safe rebuilding.
