Elevator Interior Takes on an Authentic 1930s Look at the Woolworth Building

Woolworth Building Elevator
Decorative wood panels attach to the metal walls of the elevator cab.

Restoration specialists at the Woolworth building are adding interior wall panels to the newly installed elevator, continuing detailed finish work inside the cab. Dark wood decorative panels are being applied to the elevator walls to reflect an authentic 1930s look that aligns with the building’s restored interior. Each panel is carefully measured to ensure a precise fit before being bonded directly to the metal cab interior. This work moves the elevator beyond basic function, allowing it to visually connect with the surrounding spaces and contribute to a cohesive interior design as restoration efforts continue.
