Historic Tin Ceilings Installed at the Woolworth Building

Crews install coffered tin ceilings with period-accurate patterns inside the Woolworth lobby.

Crews at the Woolworth building installed a historically accurate coffered tin ceiling, creating a defining and beautiful feature of the original interior. Coffered ceilings are recessed panel installations, and each tin tile was cut to fit precisely within the ceiling grids. The tiles form a detailed design across the lobby ceiling with period patterns matching the décor style of the 1920s. These pressed tin pieces not only enhance the visual character of the space but also bring depth, texture and authenticity to the building’s restored interior. With their installation, the lobby now reflects the craftsmanship and elegance that first defined the Woolworth store nearly a century ago.
