Second-Floor Decking is Removed at the Woolworth Building

Crews have completed the removal of all second-floor decking at the historic F.W. Woolworth Co. building as part of its ongoing structural rehabilitation. This step exposed joists for inspection and repair in order to address uneven floor elevations caused by decades of alterations.

Crew members lift worn floorboards to expose underlying joists.

With the decking removed, the building’s structure was exposed and made accessible for leveling and stabilization before construction begins. The process underscores the restoration team’s commitment to establishing structural integrity from the inside out.
