Concrete Blocks Installed to Infill Back Wall of F.W. Woolworth Building

Progress continues as crews set concrete blocks into place, methodically rebuilding the structural integrity of the Woolworth building’s back wall.

As part of the ongoing restoration of the F.W. Woolworth building, significant work has been completed on the back wall to align with the new design plan. The existing storefronts were demolished to make way for a more functional structure that supports the updated layout.

To ensure the back wall meets the building’s new design requirements, the two center openings were filled with concrete blocks. These durable blocks were chosen for their strength and suitability for the structure, creating a solid, secure foundation for the back wall and ensuring the space is readied for future use.

With the concrete blocks now filling the two center openings, this phase of the renovation is complete, helping to modernize the back of the building while respecting its historic integrity. This work brings the F.W. Woolworth building closer to its revitalized, modernized state while preserving the essence of its historic design.
