Parapet Bricks Are Removed for Reuse at the Woolworth Building

Crews remove top parapet bricks with a handheld jackhammer at the Woolworth Building.

Restoration crews at the Woolworth Building are carefully dismantling the upper layer of parapet bricks. Using handheld jackhammers, workers remove the bricks with precision and set them aside for reuse. These salvaged bricks will be integrated back into place when the crew resets the top layer of the parapet, replacing damaged sections of mortar while preserving the original bricks. This work will reinforce the parapet and give it a fresh look that aligns with the restoration plan while preserving the historic fabric of the building.
