The Parapet Bricks Are Reset at the Woolworth Building

Crews at the Woolworth Building are reconstructing the front parapet structure using the original bricks. Each brick has been cleaned of its old mortar, allowing for a precise and historically accurate rebuild.

The parapet is being reconstructed about eighteen inches shorter to align with the building’s original 1928 design.

Mortar from Cathedral Stone is being used. This mortar is specifically formulated for the restoration of mortar joints and performs well where previous methods and materials have failed. It reinforces and enhances the durability and authenticity of the masonry work without creating future structural strain.
