At the historic F.W. Woolworth Building, restoration crews have completed the careful removal of a compromised section of the south parapet wall. This demolition marks a crucial early step in stabilizing the building’s upper façade and preparing for the next phase of structural work.

The removed section extended down to the tops of the existing window openings, ensuring masons have a stable foundation from which to rebuild. This allows the team to align the new work with the building’s original proportions while creating room to install a new, structural concrete beam.

The structural beam will strengthen the parapet, support future masonry and help ensure long-term durability. Once installed, it will tie the wall together structurally, allowing for safe and accurate reconstruction.
