Duct Is Added to Quiet First-Floor AC at the Telephone Building

Two workers adding ductwork to make the A/C system quieter on the first floor of the Telephone Building.
Crews install a new duct on the first floor of the Telephone Building to reduce noise.

To improve first-floor comfort for future tenants, restoration crews at the Telephone Building installed a new section of ductwork that reduces noise from the AC unit.

The new duct—shaped at a 90-degree angle and pointed upward—redirects and softens the sound to create a quieter space without reducing system performance.

The adjustment reflects the project’s balance of modern comfort with historical preservation.
