Electrical Conduits Are Routed Through the Woolworth Building’s Second Floor

Crew routing conduit across ceiling framework.
Electricians install and route conduit across the Woolworth building’s second floor ceiling.

Electricians at the Woolworth building route conduits throughout the second-floor office space, mapping out the future electrical system that will power the restored interiors. Each hollow conduit is secured along the ceiling framework and connected to electrical boxes that control where future outlets, lighting and switches will be installed.

To ensure a precise fit, crews carefully measure and mark each section before shaping it with a conduit bender, which bends the aluminum pipes without crushing or crimping them. These bends allow the conduit to fit tightly within the ceiling grid and walls, following the building’s new layout. This step establishes the electrical framework that soon will bring power and lighting to the restored upper-floor office.
