Elevator Shaft Construction Begins at the Woolworth Building

A mason levels concrete beneath the shaft wall as vertical reinforcement is staged for upcoming pours.

Crews at the Woolworth building started construction work on the new elevator shaft, following the recent completion of the elevator pit. Masons laid the first course of concrete blocks, reinforced with vertical rebar and a steel lintel to stabilize the structure.

This first section will be filled with concrete, initiating the vertical phase of the shaft’s construction. The work marks a critical interior milestone and will support future upper-floor access as the building’s transformation progresses.
