Metal Framing Is Installed Around the Structural Beams at the Woolworth Building

Framing installed on Woolworth first floor. — Crews secure metal studs around the Woolworth building’s structural beams.

Crews inside the Woolworth building are adding metal framing to the first-floor structural beams. The team first installs horizontal framing pieces, some attached to the ceiling for added support, then connects them with smaller framing pieces that run across each beam. Together these sections create a stable framework that will strengthen the future walls. Once complete, the work will help unify the interior and support the restored design of the historic building.

Framers install top horizontal pieces around beams. — Crew members install top horizontal framing to the ceiling first.

Metal bracing added between steel supports. — Smaller framing pieces are installed to reinforce the structure between beams.

Framers install metal studs around beams. — The first-floor framework will create a base for the interior walls.
