Preparing for the Authentic Barrel Tile Roof Eave at the Peoples Bank Building

Cutting for flashing installation.
Cuts are made two inches deep into the structure to prepare for flashing installation.

Significant progress continues at the Peoples Bank building as preparations get underway to restore the structure’s Mediterranean Revival look with a new barrel tile roof eave. The process begins by making two-inch-deep cuts along the entire length of the structure, a necessary step for installing flashing. Flashing, a waterproofing material, seals the area where the roof eave meets the walls, protecting the building from rain and moisture. This roof eave captures the essence of Florida’s Mediterranean Revival style with the addition of green terracotta barrel tiles similar to those on the historic Cleveland Street Post Office just down the street on the 600 Block.
