Crews at the Woolworth building are engaged in a careful process of storefront brick modification. Using a small handheld saw, crew members are selectively cutting out individual bricks to make way for updated masonry sections.
The pattern of removals creates a jigsaw-like effect, leaving behind intentionally spaced voids that will soon be filled with historically accurate bricks. This method ensures that replacement units match the dimensions and alignment of the originals, allowing them to blend into the façade with minimal visual disruption. It is an essential step in returning the storefront to its historic proportions and appearance.
