The past comes to life as interior demolition continues at the Brown Brothers Building. Crew members are removing wall materials surrounding the original window openings, revealing underlying wood lath, framing and original brick masonry.

Using pry bars and hand tools, crews carefully separate layers of plaster, exposing the structural system that defines the building’s exterior wall assembly.

As additional sections are cleared, original brick behind the interior wall system comes into view alongside the window framing, reintroducing key materials of the building’s historic construction.
