Restoration crews collected mortar samples from the Brown Brothers building to support the next phase of its historic preservation. The existing mortar and surrounding brick have deteriorated over time, requiring laboratory analysis by a stone conservation specialist.

Mortar removed from the Brown Brothers brickwork will be analyzed to ensure future repairs are compatible with the building’s historic masonry.

The results will identify the historically appropriate mortar mix for repointing, helping ensure the restored masonry matches the building’s original materials and long term preservation goals.
