New Elevator Shaft Construction Underway at Peoples Bank

Crew pours concrete into hollow concrete blocks during the phased elevator shaft construction.
Masons fill concrete block cells in stages to ensure strength and stability.

Crews have started constructing a new elevator shaft inside the historical Peoples Bank. The original shaft was removed earlier in the renovation because it didn’t meet current codes, so a new elevator pit was dug and poured to create a strong concrete foundation.

Masons are erecting the new shaft using concrete blocks and filling each section to ensure structural integrity. This process sets the stage for a fully modern elevator system within the building’s historical envelope.
