Structural Rebuilding Begins on the East Wall of the Peoples Bank Building

As restoration continues at the historic Peoples Bank building, crews have entered a key structural phase: rebuilding the middle section of the east wall. After engineers found the original wall unstable, it was carefully removed down to the foundation to ensure long-term safety.

With the original wall cleared, the team reinforced the base before beginning a meticulous rebuild using concrete blocks. Masons worked with precision to perfectly align the reconstructed wall—a necessity, as this load-bearing structure will support the floor joists, parapet and other systems above.

This technical and foundational work represents a vital investment in the building’s future, safeguarding its integrity for new tenants while upholding the spirit of its 1910 origins.
