With the roof system removed, work begins on reinforcing the second floor and preparing for a new energy-efficient roofline.

Restoration crews at the Peoples Bank building have completed critical structural work at the roof and second floor. The original roof was removed due to age-related deterioration and replaced with a temporary weatherproof barrier to protect ongoing interior work.

Plans are underway for a new high-performance roofing system that improves durability, insulation and energy efficiency.

Meanwhile, second-floor joists and decking are being evaluated and reinforced to meet modern structural standards and allow for future adaptive reuse.

These upgrades support long-term preservation while preparing the building for its next chapter.
