The team from Boyd Clocks, led by master clockmaker David Boyd, arrived at the Peoples Bank building to begin disassembling the historic copper-faced clock. Perched on a lift, the specialists worked methodically, ensuring each component was handled with care.
Installed in the 1930s, the nearly 100-year-old clock has long been a downtown icon. Over time, its copper exterior developed a deep patina—while exposure to the elements took a toll on its precision and structure. The Boyd Clocks team, a nationally recognized firm in horological restoration, carefully removed the housing, dial and hands for full restoration off-site.
In the coming weeks, the clock will be reglazed, its copper cleaned and sealed, and its original hands repaired to working order. This marks the first step in returning the Peoples Bank clock to full working condition—a prominent and functional symbol of the street’s heritage.
