Restoration teams at the historic Peoples Bank building are tackling critical structural repairs this week, as a compromised section of the east wall will be completely demolished, clearing the way for a safe and historically accurate reconstruction.

Before removal, crews carefully shore and fully tether the inner wall to protect the integrity of the remaining structure. Overhead protection now spans the work area, safely diverting pedestrian and vehicle traffic while containing debris during demolition activities.

This proactive work strengthens the foundation for the building’s next chapter, which is safely preserving the architectural spirit of the Peoples Bank while ensuring its long-term stability.
