Windows Reopen a View to the Past at the Telephone Building

Worker installs replica double-hung windows on the restored brick façade of the historic Telephone Building, surrounded by scaffolding.

Crews reinstall windows that match the original 1915 design on the upper floors of the Telephone Building.

All 34 windows on the second and third floors of the historic Telephone Building have been replaced with historically accurate double-hung units, restoring the original 1920s–1940s appearance of the façade.

The new windows eliminate transoms that were later additions, bringing the building back to its early-century character. They also comply with Florida’s hurricane code, offering durability and safety in a historically sensitive design.

The window replacement was a critical part of the larger effort to return the building to its authentic appearance.
