East Staircase Reconstruction Begins at the Peoples Bank Building

Lumber delivered for stair construction. — Delivery of new lumber for the east staircase rebuild.

Crews have begun rebuilding the east staircase at the historic Peoples Bank Building following the demolition and removal of the previous stair structure. After receiving the first delivery of materials, including lumber to form the stair boards, the team measured and mapped where the rebuilt stair alignment will be installed. Carpenters will then assemble each stair riser and landing to create a stable, code-compliant staircase that will support access between floors during the next phase of restoration.
