Crews have installed a new elevator cab in the historic Peoples Bank building. Rail brackets and vertical guide rails were secured inside the shaft to establish the straight structural path the elevator will follow. The team then installed the car sling, the frame that carries the cab, before assembling the cab’s interior walls, ceiling and control panel. Mechanical specialists added the motor and drive components and electricians installed the wiring needed for power, signals and safety systems. Door controls and panels were adjusted on each floor to ensure they are synchronized with the cab and open properly. The installation team is now conducting testing of the cab’s movement, sensors and emergency features.
