Mosaic Tile Frieze Installation Begins at the Peoples Bank Building

Tile specialists install recreated mosaic tiles along the Peoples Bank building façade.

Installation of the Peoples Bank building’s signature mosaic tile frieze—a decorative horizontal façade band—is now underway, marking a defining moment in the restoration of its historic façade. Crews carefully set vividly colored tiles, recreated from archival photographs, into the recessed areas to replicate the original look of this historic landmark.

The decorative band will wrap the front and side elevations, restoring the Mediterranean Revival character that defined the building in the 1920s. A concealed metal mounting system is installed behind the tiles to support their weight as each piece is set into place. As installation progresses, the façade regains its depth, color and craftsmanship—reintroducing one of its most recognizable architectural features.
