Ceiling removal is underway on the first floor of the Brown Brothers Building as crews dismantle deteriorated tin panels to expose the structure above. Using pry bars, construction crews carefully separate and lower sections of the ceiling, revealing wood framing and original building materials concealed for decades.

This phase allows for a clear assessment of the building’s structural system and existing conditions. As layers are removed, the underlying framework becomes visible, providing critical insight that will guide stabilization and future restoration work. The process marks a significant step in returning the interior to a historically accurate and structurally sound state.
