Demolition crews advanced on the second floor of the Brown Brothers Building by removing north-side walls constructed of lath and plaster. Unlike drywall, this method used thin wooden strips covered with plaster, a practice that predates modern construction techniques.

Because of its toughness, crews employed crowbars, hammers, and saws to dismantle the walls. The work clears the way for further stabilization and restoration of the historic Brown Brothers Building.
