Plaster Removal Reveals Original Brick at the Brown Brothers Building

Worker removing plaster to reveal historic brick wall.
Original brick is revealed beneath plaster coating.

Plaster coatings are being removed from interior walls at the Brown Brothers Building, exposing the original brick masonry concealed beneath layers of newer finishes. Using handheld jackhammers, workers carefully chip away the hardened surface layer while preserving the integrity of the underlying brick.

As sections are cleared, the building’s historic material begins to emerge, revealing original construction methods and masonry patterns that had been hidden for decades. This phase allows for a closer assessment of the brick’s condition and informs the next steps in restoration and repair.
